What does this mean for Penn Waste customers?

Paper products may be put in recycling bins with containers. Just be sure paper is
covered by heavier material so it doesn’t blow away!

Penn Waste will accept any size of cardboard if it is flattened.

Check out the list below to learn how to recycle successfully.


Paper, Paperboard & Cardboard

Recycle These Items:

Cardboard boxes

Pizza boxes

Food boxes (i.e. cereal & jello boxes)

Paper towel & toilet paper rolls

Paperboard packaging (i.e. tissue boxes)

Office paper (any color)

Shredded paper

Newspaper & inserts

Magazines & catalogs

Junk mail & envelopes

Paper bags

Phone books


Prepare:

Remove all packaging (styrofoam, peanuts, plastic, bubble wrap, plastic liners, etc.).

Flatten ALL boxes.

Cover loose paper with heavier containers to prevent it from blowing away.

#1 - #7 containers & bottles with necks smaller than their bases.

Clear, brown, & green glass food and beverage containers

Prepare

Remove caps/lids. 

Rinse thoroughly. 

It is okay to leave on labels & neck rings.

Holiday Collection Information & Schedule Change Notices:

If collections missed because of holiday, collections shall be made upon the next regularly scheduled day.

We advertise holiday notices in the following papers:
York Newspapers, Harrisburg Patriot, Hanover Evening Sun, Delta Star.

We observe 6 major Holidays:
New Year's, Memorial Day , 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas

REFUSE & RECYCLING CONTACT INFORMATION

 

Penn Waste, Inc. is the contracted local hauler for Jacobus Borough.  Collection is 1x p/week on Tuesday.  One large trash item and up to 8 bags/containers may be put out each week.   For additional information visit Penn Waste’s website at www.pennwaste.com, or call 717-767-4456.

 

OTHER:

 

· Scrap Metal Recycling - Use the dumpster available at Beard’s Towing.  All proceeds benefit the York County Chapter of Red Cross for victims of fire.

· Household Hazardous Waste - Several collections p/year by York County Solid Waste Authority (YCSWA) -  Call 717-845-1066; Website: www.ycswa.com  Also advertised in your local newspaper.

· Electronic Equipment - SCROUNGE - Call 717-771-8421; E-mail ‘scrounge@yk.psu.edu’; This is a student-run program at Penn State, York Campus.

· Yard Waste - H & H General Excavating, Inc. offers free yard waste recycling to residents in York and Adams County municipalities - Call 717-225-4669 or 717-225-1479
